  • Does your technology resist fire?
Our technology is designed to operate in normal interior and exterior temperatures. Please do not install our technology near fire/flames.
  • Is your technology fireproof?
Our technology is designed to operate in normal interior and exterior temperatures. Please do not install our technology near fire/flames.
  • Can I build a fire pit with your technology?
Our technology is designed to operate in normal interior and exterior temperatures. Please do not install our technology near fire/flames.
  • Is the material of your joints utilized in other industries?
The material of our joints is utilized in Electrical/Electronic Applications, Automotive Applications, Appliances, Housings, General Purpose Applications (like toys), Automotive Interior Parts, Automotive Exterior Parts, Construction Applications, Business Equipment and Medical/Healthcare Applications.
  • Is it less expensive to build with your technology?
We have performed two studies comparing the cost to build traditional walls with the cost of building a similar wall with our technology. Both studies confirm that building a wall with our technology can be between 15% to 30% less expensive for bricks and 30% to 50% less expensive for blocks. Cost reduction is associated with the increase in productivity during the installation and the reduction in labor costs.
  • Is your technology reusable?
Our technology can be reused. For example, you can build a wall and later disassemble the wall and use the components to build something else.
  • Is your technology recyclable?
Our technology can be recycled. Concrete bricks/blocks can be recycled, and the joints can also be recycled.
  • What is the shape of your joints?
Our joints are designed to fit exactly between to adjacent bricks and between the layers (aka courses) of bricks situated one right on top of the other. We have a basic, straight, symmetrical joint to build the layout (foot print) of your project and a basic, straight, symmetrical joint to build all brick layers that make each wall section of your project. We also have other shapes that allow turning around corners in both directions. We call those the L and J joints and L and J layout units.
  • Why did you name it L joints?
When looking at the smart joint from the top the silhouette of the part creates a capital L. It’s bottom leg set turns to the right like the bottom part of the capital letter L does.
  • Why did you name it J joints?
When looking at the smart joint from the top the silhouette of the part creates a capital J. It’s bottom leg set turns to the left like the bottom part of the capital letter J does.
  • How do I finish both extremes of a straight wall?
You have several options. Option A: We have a half unit space. Option B: For layers (courses) that end with half unit you may want to use L and J joints to replace the half units you will need and cut the remaining portion of the brick/block and join that is perpendicular to the rear surface of the wall. You also can remove once leg set of a straight joint for the layers (courses) where you need a full-length unit. Option B: If creating a brick/block wall that appears to have a thickness equal to the length of one brick then all you need is to finish both ends of the wall with an L or J joint as it corresponds. You will also need C joints.
  • What is a BIM?
We use the term BIM to refer to Block Interlocking Module.
  • Do you have different colors for the joints?
We can match any color you like. There is a cost for custom color matching of the joints.
  • Do you have certified installers?
At Sharp Wall Technologies we believe in learning from the industry and creating modern ways to build architectural structures. Our goal is to continuously develop new technologies to further enable professionals, DIYs, organizations, communities and nations as they plan and execute construction projects.
  • Can I install the bricks /blocks myself?
At Sharp Wall Technologies we believe in learning from the industry and creating modern ways to build architectural structures. Our goal is to continuously develop new technologies to further enable professionals, DIYs, organizations, communities and nations as they plan and execute construction projects.
  • Why do I have to use layout units?
Layout units allow you to build with confidence. In other words, when you create the footprint of your new structure you can be 100% certain that you will be able to complete your project successfully. Layout units have the same shapes as brick/block units.
  • What can I build with your new technology?
You can build interior walls, decorative walls, columns, fences, tables, stools, benches and many other things. Here is a link to our Build Ideas page... https://www.sharpwall.com/Build-Ideas
  • Can I build a single wythe brick/block wall?
You can build a single wythe brick/block wall and other more complex structures like a double wythe brick/block wall, a single wythe column, a double wythe column, corners, windows door openings and many other structures.
  • Have you built any structures with your technology?
Our website includes pictures of our most recent projects.
  • Can I build a house with your technology?
You can build a house in the same way you would build a brick/block house. Our technology facilitates electrical, mechanical, plumbing, audio, video and data installation.
  • Can I build square columns?
You can build square columns and reinforce them with reinforcing bars (rebars) and concrete if necessary.
  • What is a wythe?
A wythe is a single thickness of bricks/blocks in masonry construction. You may think of the word wythe as an alteration of the word width.
  • What is a Layout?
We use the term Layout BIM to refer to parts that form the footprint of your construction project. We believe having layout units/parts is a key differentiator of our technology.
  • Does your technology meet Florida Building Code (FBC)?
The Florida Building Code is a comprehensive set of specifications. You can build interior walls with our technology and meet FBC specifications. You can also utilize our technology to build the outside surface of a reinforced concrete column. Our technology can be used to decorate an exterior wall made of regular blocks.
  • What if I only need a half a brick/block space to finish wall?
You have several options. Option A: We have a half unit space. Option B: For layers (courses) that end with half unit you may want to use L and J joints to replace the half units you will need and cut the remaining portion of the brick/block and join that is perpendicular to the rear surface of the wall. You also can remove once leg set of a straight joint for the layers (courses) where you need a full-length unit. Option B: If creating a brick/block wall that appears to have a thickness equal to the length of one brick/block then all you need is to finish both ends of the wall with an L or J joint as it corresponds. You will also need C joints.

Our technology leverages a well-established standard for brick manufacturing known as American Modular brick as welll as the 8"x8"x16" block. We also have standards for other regions across the world. American Modular Brick Dimensions. Bed Depth: 3-5/8" (92mm). Height: 2-1/4" (57mm). Length: 7-5/8" (194mm) Regular Blocks Dimension Bed Depth: 7-5/8". Height: 7-5/8". Length: 15-5/8" (194mm)
  • How many bricks/blocks can I install per hour?
You should be able to install approximately 300 bricks/blocks per hour.
  • Are your bricks/blocks real?
Our bricks/blocks are made of concrete. We also have blocks made of solid glass and other materials.
  • Can I utilize my own bricks/blocks?
The bricks/blocks we sell are certified and tested to work with our joints. Our bricks are manufactured based on a standard known as American Modular Bricks. Dimensions: Bed Depth: 3-5/8" (92mm). • Does your technology improve the bricks/blocks in any way?
Our technology increases the compressive strength of the bricks/blocks by 20%. In other words, a regular brick/block would have 20% less compressive strength when installed utilizing the traditional methods than when installed with our joints.
  • How high can my walls and columns be?
Our technology improves the overall performance of the traditional brick/block and mortar construction. In theory you can build a wall or a column as high as you could build a wall, or a column made with brick/block and mortar. You may want to refer to a structural engineer for this question.
  • How it works?
We have created a unique, symmetrical interlocking solution that replaces the need to use mortar to assemble a brick/block wall or any other brick/block structure. Our dry stack technology allows both professionals and Do It Yourself (DIY) to build real brick/block structures with confidence.
