Have you ever wanted to assemble a hybrid wall? A wall that combines the traditional 2 inches X 4 inches framing stud plus Gypsum Board and the character of a brick section.

Assembling hybrid walls is now simpler utilizing the brick system by Sharp Wall Technologies.

The 3D renderings below where created using SketchUp Pro 2018 by the Sharp Wall Technologies team to show (at a high level I may add) how to accomplish this task.

The keys to the hybrid wall are:

1. The American Modular Bricks and the traditional 2 inches X 4 inches framing stud are approximately the same width.

2. The American Modular Bricks are 8 inches in length (nominal measures); thus every time you layout 3 bricks in the same course you have covered approximately the distance that separates two studs.

Benefits we have considered:

1. Prefabricated and flat packed to the build site.

2. Embedded heating systems running the pipes that form the heat-exchange/coil vertically thru the brick openings. Or installation of electrical fireplace.

3. Separating the vertical/horizontal wood frames panels from the ground.

4. Shower areas and other wet areas.

5. Look and feel, aesthetic design, a different character.

We recommend using steel galvanized wire to increase tension between the top brick course and the bottom (layout). Wires can run vertically using the straight opening created by our cored concrete bricks.

Wires should be placed 24 inches apart in the same way the studs are. Use expansion screws with an eye ring anchor to facilitate the installation of the tension wires.
